Troubleshooting
I Cannot Log In As A Registered User
Check:
- account id,
- password,
- whether first login asks for password confirmation.
If the password is forgotten, contact course staff or the system owner.
The Room Link Shows No Games
Possible reasons:
- the moderator has not started a game,
- the moderator started the game in a different room,
- the game was stopped,
- the browser has not refreshed the room list yet.
Wait a few seconds or reload the room page. If the game still does not appear, ask the moderator to confirm the selected room.
A Player Name Is Already Taken
The name is probably still connected in another tab or browser.
Use a different name, close the duplicate tab, or wait until the previous connection is gone. If a PIN was used, reconnect with the same PIN.
The Game Is Waiting
Possible reasons:
- not enough players have joined,
- another player must act,
- a timed stage is running,
- the server is preparing the next state,
- the connection was interrupted.
For fixed-player games, waiting before the session fills is normal. The first players should not see the game state early.
I Joined The Wrong Game
Return to the room page and join the correct open game. If the wrong game is the only visible game, ask the moderator which room link to use.
A Decision Does Not Advance The Game
Check:
- required fields are filled,
- dropdowns are not left unselected,
- the clicked control is the active player's control,
- the page did not show an error or warning,
- another player is not still expected to act.
If the decision was accepted but nothing changes, the game may be waiting for another player or a timed stage.
Join Or Open Test Does Not Open A New Tab
Browser tab behavior is controlled by the browser.
Try:
- allowing popups for the site,
- using
Ctrlclick orCmdclick, - opening the room link in a new tab manually.
Upload Fails
Check:
- the file is
.clg.json,.mgd, or XML, - it is a valid ComLabGames game definition,
- the game type is currently supported,
- the chosen catalog folder is account-owned and is not under
Demo, - duplicate overwrite was confirmed if prompted.
Game definitions are uploaded from the second Definitions toolbar row. Choose the destination folder in the application dialog before choosing files.
Image Upload Does Not Open Or Is Rejected
Page Image upload opens the browser's native file chooser. If it does not appear, confirm that the current Design is saved and try the upload icon again.
Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP up to 5 MiB. Images belong to the current game and are managed under Data model > Images.
Start Is Rejected
Open Validation in Design. Execution is blocked when the current saved definition has errors or detached edits. Correct the errors and save again.
The same game may also already be open in the selected room.
Stop the existing game, use another room, or choose another game.
A Variable Or Choice Is Empty During Play
Check that its value source runs before the Page that displays it. A Variable created in a Page is a definition and reference; it still needs an initialization, Stage, transition, periodic, or transaction source when the game does not provide one automatically.
Use Find usages in Data model to inspect where it appears.
The Wrong Page Is Shown
Review the Page's Audience rules. Active has priority over Observe, which has priority over Glance. A missing rule means Passive. When several Pages have the same level, their order in the Stage decides which one is shown first.
My Design Changes Disappeared
Confirm that the save icon was used before leaving the game. When the unsaved-changes dialog appears, Discard deliberately restores the last saved revision.
Starting A Game Reports Validation Errors
Open Validation and use Open beside a diagnostic. Technical IDs may appear in diagnostics to identify the exact element; edit author-facing names in their normal Layout, Assignment, Gameplay, or Data model fields.
Demo And Test Behave Differently
This is expected.
Demo uses one tab and switches between players. Test uses separate player tabs and is closer to a real classroom run.
The Screen Looks Different From This Guide
The application is still changing. Follow the live screen first. If the difference affects classroom use, report it so the guide can be updated.
